Note from the Publisher

Hello and welcome to the May-June issue of PhatBelt.com. From the response of the Primer issue I've been very happy to know that viewers are interested. PhatBelt has been received well. I've received some great emails so thank you and please keep sending you thoughts and suggestions. In this issue you'll see the last set of images from my October, 2006 New York trip. It was tough selecting the images that made it into this last set. I think there are still a few too many shots but with everything that I captured (over a 1000 images), it was difficult trying to narrow it down. It can be extremely difficult going through the editing/selecting process. I form attachments with my images and like them for one reason or another. I think I'm no different than anyone else who shoots in that I enjoy what I do and love looking at my work. I'm sure if I didn't like my images, or think they're cool, and did not feel the challenge to create and capture unique shots I would have moved on long ago.

Also in this issue: I've provided some insight on how I create dramatic effects in post-production using Photoshop, see the Skinny (p.54). And, don't pass up the Phation spread (p.60) with Miss Penny. Images with Penny were shot in the backyard of the studio and at a local park. Finally, I've posted a series of images from a fashion show featuring handmade jewelry by Shelly Mantler of shel.™ – Phation Event (p.66).

Enjoy!
